Bühler is a Swiss-based family-owned global leader in providing industrial solutions for food processing and manufacturing advanced materials. We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to be based in Nairobi, Kenya. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and support to clients, ensuring the efficient operation of Bühler equipment. You will excel by interacting with clients to fulfill service jobs, responding to technical support calls/emails, and identifying sales opportunities during site visits. This position involves a mix of technical troubleshooting, commissioning of machines, and ensuring high standards of customer service within the milling industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Interact with clients to fulfill service jobs, provide quotations, and manage spare parts requirements.
- Respond to client technical support requests via phone and email.
- Identify sales opportunities for services, retrofits, and upgrades during site visits.
- Commission single machines and offer technical support for projects.
- Execute service contracts and perform maintenance on Bühler equipment.
- Identify and implement opportunities to increase machine efficiency.
- Provide timely updates to stakeholders regarding factors affecting SORTEX machines.
- Assist in sourcing components for projects while balancing cost, quality, and lead time.
- Coordinate effectively with other disciplines for task completion.
- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) protocols.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Education: Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Mechatronic Engineering, or a relevant field (e.g., SMS, AMS).
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a commercial mill or equivalent technical skill set.
- Technical Skills: A firm grasp of mechanical and electrical engineering concepts.
- Industry Knowledge: Process experience in the milling industry (flour, feeds, coffee, pulses, rice, etc.).
- Software: Proficiency in MS Office programs.
- Languages: Fluent communication skills in English.
- Preferred: Higher technical education (Technical College) with specialized training in Customer Service is an added advantage.
