Role Overview
The Field Officer, under the general supervision of the Field Manager and within the limits of Innovations for Poverty Action-Kenya (IPA-K) policies and procedures, will primarily be responsible for the collection of high-quality data in the field. The role involves interacting with study respondents and project partners to gather data that informs solutions to global poverty problems.
Duties and Responsibilities
Survey Tool Testing: Assist in bench testing and piloting of the survey tool on SurveyCTO to ensure it meets project standards.
Data Collection: Conduct in-person and phone surveys, providing feedback on SurveyCTO programming and assisting in survey translations.
Respondent Screening: Ensure proper screening of respondents for identification and administration of informed consent while interacting with integrity.
Monitoring and Feedback: Provide feedback during debriefs on data collection and survey instruments to monitor improvements in project operations.
Data Quality Assurance: Ensure that data integrity is maintained at all times and minimize errors in data collection and transmission.
Workflow Management: Complete scheduled activities each day in a timely manner, including keeping logs of work accomplished and callbacks as assigned by the SFO and DEP Project management.
Inventory Management: Maintain project inventory (electronic devices, stationery, etc.) in a safe and secure manner, updating management on their status.
Additional Tasks: Perform other tasks as assigned by the Field Manager or project management.
Qualifications and Experience
Diploma in social sciences, public policy, or related fields.
At least 1 year of field research experience.
Previous experience collecting data using SurveyCTO in-person and over the phone.
Demonstrated experience in tracking respondents.
