The Field HSE Supervisor offers expert knowledge and skills to generate and promote a positive Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) culture. This key role is central to controlling occupational risks and environmental impacts on the rig, with the ultimate objective of achieving a "Perfect HSE Day" every day. The supervisor has full oversight of safe operations on drilling and completion work sites, rig operations, and the supporting maintenance yard, bringing added value in HSE application to the Integration & Solutions projects.
Key Responsibilities
Liaise directly with field operational supervisors to ensure the safe operation of drilling and completion rigs and supporting activities.
Manage, apply, and ensure adherence to Client and Baker Hughes HSE policies and procedures, assisting contracted services to comply with the same.
Promote a proactive safety culture within the workplace in accordance with industry best practices.
Lead and participate in various site HSE meetings, present safety data/statistics, communicate HSE alerts/lessons learned, and discuss safety issues with the crew.
Perform, verify, and follow up on site inspections, ensuring alignment with Client and Baker Hughes requirements, and generate Remedial Work Plans (RWP) or Action Trackers (AT) for non-compliances.
Monitor the work environment to protect workers from entering hazardous situations, especially during work governed by specific Permit to Work (PTW) requirements.
Coordinate operations on rig moves, participate in rig move convoys, and verify the competency of personnel and certification of rig move equipment/vehicles.
Report all incidents, accidents, and near misses/HIPO immediately, and lead the investigation and analysis process.
Verify that risk assessments are properly prepared, valid, implemented, communicated, and regularly reviewed.
Promote the Safety Observation System, helping analyze data to identify trends, and recommend corrective actions to mitigate potential losses.
Verify the Permit to Work (PTW) system is fully implemented and conduct PTW audits.
Conduct site HSE inductions for all crew and visitors.
Ensure the crew is certified according to the training matrices, and conduct refresher training as necessary.
Verify that H2S and fire contingency provisions are adequate, and lead emergency drills.
Ensure that all tools and equipment are safe for use and properly documented.
Ensure all Remedial Work Plan (RWP) and Action Tracker items are SMART, follow up on their closure, and communicate status to relevant parties.
Requirements
A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a scientific discipline from an accredited university, or equivalent industry experience.
A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with at least 5+ years specifically in Environmental Health & Safety.
Comfortable working on a rotational schedule and being located directly on-site at the rig.
Competent in planning, problem-solving, organizing, directing, and controlling wellsite operations.
Excellent leadership, interpersonal, influencing, and planning skills.
Excellent written and oral English communication skills, including the ability to run meetings and draft clear minutes.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite, with familiarity in MS Project.
Willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote field locations.
Ability to manage, develop, coach, and mentor teams across organizational boundaries.
