Equity Bank Kenya is seeking an Energy, Environment, and Climate Change (EE&CC) Assistant Manager to support the smooth running of the pillar's activities and identify strategic opportunities for Equity Bank to leverage and achieve its energy, environmental, and climate change objectives. In this role, you will collaborate with partners, support project execution across social impact and commercial sectors, and drive ESG capacity-building initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the smooth operations and activities of the Energy, Environment, and Climate Change (EE&CC) Pillar.
- Identify opportunity areas that the bank can leverage to attain its energy, environmental, and climate change goals.
- Seek partnerships within the sector to enable portfolio de-risking.
- Support the execution of projects undertaken between the Social Impact or Commercial departments and energy/environmental conservation partners.
- Support the execution of projects undertaken between the Social Impact or Commercial departments and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) partners.
- Assist the pillar lead in aligning and managing projects per sector to support the bank's objective of driving business growth.
- Work closely with the pillar lead and Programs Manager to develop relevant project proposals and impact tracking tools for accurate, timely reporting.
- Facilitate market, information, knowledge, and financial linkages to support the buildup of business networks within the energy ecosystem.
- Link energy partners to specific sectors or individuals to enhance customer satisfaction in service delivery.
- Coordinate and participate in ESG-related capacity-building activities for Equity staff, partners, and customers.
- Support the overall performance of the EE&CC pillar and perform other tasks assigned by the line manager.
Qualifications and Experience
- Education: At least a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Renewable Energy/Sustainable Energy/Climate, Finance, Environmental Sciences, or related field.
- Experience: At least three (3) years of work experience with a reputable organization, especially in energy or green projects, and sustainable finance.
- Skills: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
