Job Description
The Estates Furnishings Assistant and Deputy Driver is a dual-purpose role responsible for assisting Lead Drivers with the management of Estates fleet vehicles and supporting the furnishings team. The role provides safe and efficient transport services for personnel, materials, and furniture, while also conducting property maintenance tasks such as cleaning, inventory management, and contractor supervision.
Key Responsibilities
Driving Duties (40%)
Drive fleet vehicles safely and efficiently, adhering to traffic regulations and organizational policies.
Assist in the delivery and collection of furniture and white goods using canter trucks or minibuses for residential occupancy.
Coordinate with utility companies for meter readings and supervise generator fueling across the Estate.
Conduct property errands and ensure assigned vehicles are clean, serviced, and fueled.
Perform daily maintenance checks including tyres, oil, and lubricants to ensure roadworthiness.
Handle loading and offloading of inventory, ensuring all gate passes are signed and documented.
Furnishings Assistance (40%)
Perform deep cleaning and furnishing of properties according to established health and safety standards.
Maintain furnishings stores and surrounding areas to keep them orderly and free from hazards.
Assist in property preparation for occupancy and set up meeting rooms or events.
Report damaged or missing items to the Helpdesk and manage internal booking requests within SLAs.
Support all High Commission teams with manual handling and heavy lifting tasks.
Ensure accurate filing of gate passes, fuel notes, and inventory delivery/collection notes.
Contractor Supervision & Deputy Duties (20%)
Supervise contracted suppliers for waste collection, water deliveries, and garden works.
Oversee property cleaning services and conduct spot-checks on grounds maintenance and guard house cleaning.
Monitor other contractors across Estates Accommodation and Technical Works.
Deputize for Estates team lead drivers during their absence.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
BA/BSc/HND qualification.
Valid driving license for B-C-E class with a clean driving record.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a Class E Driver, specifically driving Canter Trucks or equivalent.
Basic mechanical knowledge for vehicle checks and minor troubleshooting.
Clear written and verbal communication skills in English.
Basic computer skills (MS Office suite, Outlook for email).
Heavy lifting capability (up to 45Kg).
In-depth knowledge of Nairobi road routes and journey planning.
Desirable Qualifications
Certification for safe operation of a HIAB or crane.
Health & Safety training and certification (local or UK standards).
Experience in professional property cleaning and inventory management systems.
