The English Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality instruction using the SABIS Point System. The role involves managing classroom environments, preparing students for exams, and supporting the academic growth of all students within the global SABIS network. The teacher will focus on implementing a proven, proprietary system that prepares students for the challenges of a changing world.
Key Responsibilities
Instructional Delivery: Teaching using the provided lesson plans for English subjects using the SABIS point system. You may also be required to develop plans based on provided pacing charts.
Assessment and Grading: Marking exams related to the subject matter in accordance with the schedule and material provided by the department.
Student Performance Management: Discussing disciplinary and student performance issues with the Academic Quality Controller (AQC) and Head of Department (HOD) as needed.
Classroom Management: Implementing the SABIS point system to ensure an environment conducive to learning in the classroom.
Examination Support: Providing support by invigilating exams as needed in an adequate and properly managed exam environment.
Academic Support: Providing support for academically low-performing students to help improve their performance and motivate them to reach their potential.
External Exam Preparation: Developing and following external exam preparation by reviewing past papers as planned in the structured revision schedule.
Administrative Duties: Aiding in duties such as testing children, substituting for absent teachers, organizing student logistics (lunches/buses/traffic control), and other administrative tasks as assigned by management.
Student Life Involvement: Preparing and participating in activity plans for student life events such as art, open houses, and physical education in coordination with the Student Life Coordinator.
Professional Development: Attending training sessions to enhance understanding of the SABIS system and improve teaching performance.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: A Bachelor's degree in a related subject matter and/or equivalent is required.
Certification: PGCE Certification or MA in Education is a must.
Language: English Proficient / Native English Speaker.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office components.
Soft Skills: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
