WRA is the lead agency in the Management of Water Resources in Kenya, responsible for regulating, managing, and equitably allocating national water resources. This is an entry and training grade for the Engineering cadre, where the officer will work under the guidance of a senior officer.
Role Overview
The role is responsible for inspecting the safety of water resources structures, including dams, and collecting, analyzing, and evaluating data for the safety of water resources infrastructure.
Responsibilities
Compiling, cleaning, and analyzing data for the preparation of technical reports and documentation regarding water resources infrastructure and dam safety.
Carrying out survey work for designing spring protection works, gabions, weirs, water pans, and dams for Water Resource Users Associations (WRUAs).
Inspecting proposed sites for water resources infrastructure development.
Assessing the status of dams for compliance with dam safety schedules.
Preparing and maintaining a repository of dams, water pans, and other water resources structures.
Collecting data on flood depth, flood extent, and social and economic impacts to prepare reports.
Monitoring flood impacts and maintaining a database of flood events.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Water Engineering, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Terms of Service and Remuneration
Probationary Period: Six (6) months, thereafter converting to Permanent and Pensionable Terms of Service.
Remuneration: Subject to existing terms approved by the Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC).
