Job Description
The Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) is seeking to recruit an Employee Relations and Safeguarding Lead. This individual will play a pivotal leadership role within the HR team, taking full accountability for all aspects of service delivery for employee relations and safeguarding activities. The role is centered on fostering a supportive, inclusive, and compliant work environment while shaping and overseeing the strategy to strengthen GAIN’s organizational culture and strategic objectives. This position is offered on a two (2) years fixed-term contract, based in Kenya, and is subject to funding availability.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development: Lead the design and implementation of employee relations strategies aligned with organizational values and goals.
Case Management: Develop and embed a strategic approach to managing complex employee relations cases across the organization.
Leadership Development: Partner with Learning and Development teams to enhance people management standards and leadership capability among managers.
Training: Develop and deliver training programs on employee relations, safeguarding, workplace harassment, diversity, and inclusion.
Safeguarding Policy: Lead the design, implementation, and monitoring of GAIN’s safeguarding policies and practices to ensure continuous improvement.
Incident Response: Oversee systems for identifying, receiving, reporting, investigating, and responding to safeguarding issues and complaints.
Stakeholder Support: Build and maintain a safeguarding community of practice and support stakeholders in policy implementation.
Policy Enforcement: Review and update HR and Safeguarding policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements.
Legal Advisory: Stay updated on labour laws and safeguarding regulations in all countries where GAIN operates, advising on necessary adjustments.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Minimum of a BA/BSc/HND qualification.
Leadership: Strong strategic leadership skills with the ability to influence and inspire teams at all levels.
Technical Expertise: Deep expertise in employee relations, safeguarding, and relevant international labour laws.
Case Resolution: Proven experience in managing complex employee relations cases and investigations.
Soft Skills: High emotional intelligence and cultural competence to handle sensitive issues with diplomacy and maintain confidentiality.
Operational Excellence: Experience in driving operational excellence and cultural change within diverse organizations.
Resilience: Ability to thrive under pressure and effectively manage conflict.
Benefits
Starting gross salary: KES 6,236,928 - KES 7,127,928 per annum, depending on experience.
