Amentum is a global leader in designing, engineering, and modernizing critical systems and programs of national importance. We are seeking an Elevator Mechanic to join our team in Lamu. The role is responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority. You will perform critical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on elevator systems at an overseas facility.
Responsibilities
- Safety & Compliance: Maintain a safe workplace and ensure safety is the highest priority. Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) and Quality Assurance (QA) requirements and goals.
- Troubleshooting: Locate and determine causes of trouble in brakes, motors, switches, and signal and control systems using test lamps, ammeters, and voltmeters.
- Repair & Maintenance: Disassemble defective units and repair or replace parts including locks, gears, cables, and faulty safety devices. Lubricate bearings and other parts to minimize friction.
- Installation: Install or repair transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment working from blueprints, drawings, and layouts.
- Preventative Maintenance: Perform scheduled maintenance in accordance with published schedules, operating procedures, and equipment warranties. Provide input to upgrade content and frequency of tasks.
- Testing: Conduct tests of equipment using voltmeters, ammeters, ohmmeters, continuity testers, feeler gauges, frequency counters, and other trade tools.
- Additional Duties: Perform projects and other tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Education: A high school diploma or GED is required. Strongly preferred is either an apprentice program with a Journeyman's Certificate and/or equivalent field experience.
- Experience: Must include familiarity with working sketches, engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, and manufacturers’ operations and maintenance manuals.
- Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of applicable European and/or US Electrical Codes and acceptable trade practices. Familiarity with annual maintenance requirements and load testing procedures.
- Physical Demands: Frequently required to walk, stand, and work in tiring or uncomfortable positions. Must be able to lift items weighing 15-25 pounds frequently and occasionally in excess of 45 pounds. Ability to work in high, precarious places and exposure to extreme heat or mechanical parts.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with Otis GEN2 MRL Elevators is highly desirable.
- Previous international work experience or experience in harsh environmental conditions.
- Previous experience working with Amentum.
