The Electrical Technician will ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable operation and maintenance of the power plant and its equipment while adhering to all safety and operational procedures. Working for a power infrastructure company, this role involves proactive maintenance, troubleshooting complex electrical systems, and ensuring the plant remains in optimal working condition.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Take corrective action when directed to do so and maintain the plant in a clean and safe condition.
- Perform emergency procedures to protect personnel and equipment in case of damage or failure of safety systems.
- Utilize all tools effectively to maximize their operating life and account for all parts, materials, and supplies used.
- Ensure economical and safe operation and maintenance of the plant, complying with safety regulations including isolation, lock-out, and tag-out (LOTO).
- Maintain machines and auxiliary equipment in good working condition.
- Identify motor components (injection pumps, cylinders, turning gears, emergency stops) and electrical panels.
- Repair panels and substitute components such as contacts, transformers, and fuses while identifying defects.
- Operate and maintain equipment in MV and HV rooms as well as the KV substation.
- Use electrical measurement equipment including digital and analogue multimeters, frequency meters, capacity meters, DC sources, and oscilloscopes.
- Execute readings of pressure and temperature indicators (manometers, thermometers, digital panels).
- Start, stop, and monitor lubricating oil and HFO separators and handle alarm readings.
- Monitor control panel computers, alarms, and trips for all engine systems and create reports on abnormalities.
- Support the instructional mission of the power plant and promote positive work attitudes.
- Perform general electrical installation and maintenance tasks.
Qualifications and Experience
- Diploma in Electrical and Electronic Engineering.
- At least 2 years’ experience in operation and/or maintenance of a power plant.

- Troubleshooting mechanical and electrical faults.

Compensation
- We are offering a monthly basic salary ranging from KES 60,000 – KES 120,000.
