Globeleq is seeking an Electrical Intern to support maintenance and operational functions at their power plant facilities. This position offers a learning opportunity for recent engineering graduates to develop practical competence in utility-scale power plant systems, covering preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance under professional supervision. The intern will work collaboratively with the Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure plant reliability and safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
Assist in the execution of scheduled preventive maintenance on generators, transformers, motors, switchgear (LV/MV/HV), UPS systems, and battery systems.
Support condition monitoring activities including insulation resistance testing, thermography, and basic trend analysis.
Participate in planned maintenance tasks during minor and major outages.
Corrective Maintenance & Troubleshooting
Assist in troubleshooting electrical faults and restoring equipment to service.
Support root cause analysis (RCA) for electrical failures.
Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and protection settings under supervision.
Operations Support
Participate in switching activities under strict supervision and in accordance with approved switching procedures and safety rules.
Ensure compliance with Permit-to-Work (PTW) and Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) systems.
Documentation & Compliance
Maintain accurate maintenance records, inspection reports, and test documentation in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
Support the update of electrical drawings and technical documentation where required.
Ensure full compliance with HSESS standards and electrical safety regulations.
Continuous Learning & Development
Participate in structured technical on-the-job training.
Develop practical competence in power plant electrical systems and industry best practices.
Perform any other duties assigned within the scope of learning and development.
Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics (Power Option), or a related discipline from a recognized institution.
Must have graduated within the last three (3) years (2023–2025).
Basic understanding of power generation electrical systems.
Ability to interpret electrical drawings and single-line diagrams (SLDs).
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
Ability to work effectively in a team with minimal supervision.
