The Electrical Engineering Officer is responsible for ensuring that water works, water supply and distribution systems, sewage works, pumping stations, plants, and equipment are efficiently operated and maintained. The role involves optimum utilization, proper maintenance, and rehabilitation of all electrical equipment, instruments, generators, and boreholes to ensure continuous service delivery.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
System Design and Supervision: Design and supervise electrical systems and control panels for water and wastewater treatment plants, offices, pumping stations, generators, and boreholes.
Maintenance Management: Ensure predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance on the items above is undertaken on a regular basis and develop comprehensive maintenance schedules.
Technical Supervision: Provide guidance and supervision to Electrical Technicians and oversee the installation, servicing, and maintenance of all electrical equipment, instruments, generators, and boreholes.
Procurement and Tendering: Prepare tender documents for the installation works to be undertaken and ensure that the right quality and quantity of spare parts is maintained at appropriate levels.
Operations Planning: Initiate planning and budgeting for works in the Electrical operations and perform monitoring and evaluation of technical works.
Utility Liaison: Coordinate with KPLC to ensure sustained grid power supply, monitor power consumption, and manage billing.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from a recognized learning institution.
Professional Certification: Registered as a Graduate Engineer with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK) and the Institution of Engineers of Kenya (IEK).
Experience: Proven two (2) years of experience in planning, design, tender documentation, and supervision of electrical engineering works in a busy environment.
