Role Overview\n\nThis is the entry grade into the driver's cadre within the Makueni County Public Service. The primary purpose of this role is to provide safe and efficient transportation services, ensuring the proper operation, maintenance, and safety of county motor vehicles.\n\n### Duties and Responsibilities\n\n- Driving a motor vehicle as authorized by the department.\n- Carrying out routine checks on the vehicle's cooling, oil, electrical, and brake systems, tyre pressure, and other essential components.\n- Detecting and reporting any malfunctioning of the assigned vehicles to ensure timely repairs.\n- Ensuring the security and safety of the vehicle both on and off the road.\n- Safeguarding the safety of passengers and any goods being transported in the vehicle.\n- Maintaining the cleanliness and general hygiene of the vehicle.\n\n### Requirements for Appointment\n\nTo be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:\n\n- Possession of a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) mean grade D plain or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.\n- A valid driving license free from any current endorsement(s) for the class(es) of vehicle(s) an officer is required to drive.\n- Completion of a First Aid Certificate Course lasting not less than one (1) week at St. John Ambulance, Kenya Institute of Highway and Building Technology (KIHBT), or any other recognized institution.\n- Successful completion of the Suitability Test for Drivers Grade III.\n- Successful completion of the Practical Test for Drivers conducted by the respective Ministry/Department.\n\n### Salary and Terms of Service\n\n- Kshs 18,250 x 510 - 18,760 x 580 - 19,920 x 640 - 20,560 x 680 - 21,240 x 700 - 21,940 x 780 - 22,720 per month.\n- Permanent & Pensionable.\n\n### Important Application Notes\n\n- Applicants must provide all requested details; providing incorrect information is an offense.\n- Academic and professional certificates not obtained by the close of the advert should not be included.\n- Only shortlisted and successful applicants will be contacted.\n- Shortlisted candidates must produce original identification documents, certificates, transcripts, and testimonials during interviews.\n- Mandatory clearances for shortlisted candidates: CID (Certificate of Good Conduct), Credit Reference Bureau (CRB), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), and Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).\n- The Board does not charge any fees for application, shortlisting, or appointment.\n\n### How to Apply\n\nInterested and qualified persons are requested to make their applications online through the Makueni County Public Service Board website at or via the jobs portal at .
