Job Description
The National Employment Authority (NEA) is seeking a professional and responsible Driver to provide safe and reliable transport services for project staff, consultants, and materials. The role involves operating vehicles in both urban and rural settings, performing routine vehicle maintenance, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and security protocols.
Key Responsibilities
Driving and Transport Services: Drive project vehicles safely and responsibly in accordance with traffic laws, program protocols, and donor requirements. Transport staff and materials to and from field sites and official engagements, ensuring punctuality and reliability.
Vehicle Maintenance and Cleanliness: Conduct daily inspections of oil, water, tires, brakes, and fuel. Report mechanical issues immediately to the Administrative Officer and ensure vehicles remain clean and well-maintained.
Logistics and Operational Support: Assist in loading and unloading project materials and equipment. Perform office errands and deliver documents or supplies as assigned.
Records Management: Maintain accurate trip records, vehicle logbooks, and fuel usage reports, ensuring timely submission of documentation.
Safety and Security: Adhere to all security protocols for vehicle use and passenger safety. Ensure the availability and proper use of safety equipment, including seat belts, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits.
Compliance: Comply with INReMP transport policies and IFAD/donor vehicle usage guidelines.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Must be a holder of a KCSE certificate with a minimum grade of D+.
Licensing: Must possess a valid Class B driving license and a valid Certificate of Good Conduct from the Kenya Police Service. PSV certification is an added advantage.
Experience: A minimum of five years of accident-free driving experience, preferably within a Government of Kenya (GoK), development, or NGO setting.
Technical Skills: Adequate experience operating 4WD vehicles in rural and off-road terrain. Familiarity with Kenyan road networks and regional travel logistics.
Training: First aid training (minimum one week) and Defensive driving training (minimum one week) from recognized institutions.
Competencies: Strong knowledge of vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and high levels of integrity and professionalism.
