Rosslyn Academy is seeking a Director of Teaching and Learning to supervise and manage the implementation of its North American curriculum. This is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing the accreditation process, directing the professional development program, and ensuring academic excellence within a vibrant Christian international school environment.
Professional Responsibilities
Modeling and Leadership: Model a personal commitment to Christ and Bible-based Christian living; inspire others to Christian faith and commitment; and maintain a positive spiritual environment.
Operational Excellence: Exhibit characteristics of a lifelong learner; maintain an environment focused on growth and excellence; and consistently model professionalism.
Strategic Planning: Provide leadership ensuring all activities are congruent with the school vision and mission; establish annual short and long-range goals for the department; and use data to plan for improvements.
Team Empowerment: Demonstrate effective team-building strategies and use leadership techniques that motivate staff, students, and parents.
Professional Duties
Curriculum Oversight: Manage the adoption cycle and purchase of materials; provide for curricular review and modification; and ensure the implementation of the adopted curriculum in collaboration with principals.
Accreditation: Maintain the school's accreditation through ACSI and MSA; stay current on accreditation standards; guide the school in achieving its goals; and host visiting accreditation teams.
Administration: Represent Rosslyn as an external site visitor for ACSI and MSA; assist the Superintendent in projecting departmental budgets; and participate in the Leadership Team.
Communication: Use effective modes of communication to share the school’s philosophy and accomplishments; attend Board of Governors meetings as requested; and participate in conflict resolution.
Professional Qualifications
Must be an instructional leader as evidenced by National Board Certification or a Master’s Degree in Education or a related field.
Proven administrative experience is required.
Special ability and interest in developing academic structures and directing curriculum programs.
Must be an articulate communicator who lives a life in keeping with the goals and aims of Rosslyn Academy.
A self-directed leader able to initiate and sustain long-term initiatives.
A personal commitment to Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and a sense of God’s calling to service at Rosslyn Academy.
