Role Overview
The Director of Macroeconomics, Modelling, and Forecasting at the Directorate of Economic Management is a senior leadership position at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA). The role involves overseeing the delivery of research-oriented outputs, providing technical advice on public policy, and spearheading the institute's efforts in economic modeling and forecasting to inform national policy decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Research Delivery: Oversee the delivery of research-oriented outputs as per set targets and ensure quality control processes.
- Technical Advisory: Provide leadership and technical advice in public policy research and analysis to stakeholders.
- Resource Management: Oversee resource mobilization and the implementation of contracted projects.
- Dissemination: Direct the effective dissemination of research outputs and manage the institute's dissemination activities and calendar.
- Partnerships: Initiate partnerships and collaborative research with stakeholders, including policymakers and development partners.
- Governance & Risk: Oversee risk management, internal controls, and the implementation of corporate governance principles and corruption prevention strategies.
- Team Leadership: Lead, supervise, coach, and mentor staff to build a high-performing and motivated team; initiate staff motivation and ethical culture.
- Planning & Reporting: Spearhead the preparation, monitoring, and review of annual work plans, budgets, and performance management frameworks.
- Knowledge Management: Coordinate knowledge management and data management activities for the Institute.
Qualifications and Experience
- Experience: Cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years, with at least three (3) years at the Grade of Deputy Director Policy Analyst / Senior Principal Policy Analyst or a comparable relevant position.
- Education: Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Law, Engineering, Geo-Spatial Information Science, Urban Planning, or related social sciences from a recognized institution.
- Training: Completion of a leadership course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Publications: Minimum of six (6) publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, or book chapters, and a minimum of ten (10) published research papers or reports.
- Merit: Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
