Information about the Role
The Director of Integrated Development at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is a senior leadership position responsible for providing strategic direction and technical oversight for the Directorate of Integrated Development. This role involves managing research-oriented outputs, resource mobilization, and stakeholder engagement to ensure the Institute delivers high-quality public policy research and analysis. The Director is tasked with building a high-performing team, fostering partnerships, and ensuring adherence to corporate governance and national policy directives.
Responsibilities and Duties
Overseeing the delivery of research-oriented outputs according to set targets.
Spearheading leadership and providing technical advice in public policy research and analysis to various stakeholders.
Overseeing resource mobilization and the implementation of contracted projects.
Directing the effective dissemination of research outputs and ensuring quality control processes are met.
Initiating partnerships and collaborative research with key stakeholders.
Guiding improvements in the performance, efficiency, and impact of Directorate functions.
Steering corporate consultation, public participation, and stakeholder engagement in programs and policies.
Overseeing risk management, accountability systems, business continuity, and internal controls.
Spearheading the implementation of corporate governance principles and corruption prevention strategies.
Fostering staff motivation, teamwork, and a culture of ethical practices and continuous improvement.
Designing leadership in supervision, coaching, mentoring, and development of staff.
Managing the timely preparation and monitoring of annual work plans, budgets, and performance management frameworks.
Overseeing procurement and asset disposal plans in line with institutional policies.
Coordinating knowledge management and data management activities for the Institute.
Formulating and reviewing public policies and strategies.
Requirements and Qualifications
A cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years, with at least three (3) years at the Grade of Deputy Director Policy Analyst / Senior Principal Policy Analyst or a comparable position.
PhD degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Law, Engineering, Geo-Spatial Information Science, Urban Planning, Gender, Nutrition, Food Science, International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Social Policy, Public Health, Public Finance, Environmental Studies, or related social sciences from a recognized institution.
Master’s degree in the same fields mentioned above.
Bachelor’s degree in the same fields mentioned above.
Completion of a leadership course lasting at least four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
A minimum of six (6) publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, or book chapters.
A minimum of ten (10) published research papers or reports.
Proven merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
