The Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is an autonomous public institute established to provide public policy research and analysis. The Governance Division is seeking a Deputy Director to lead research-oriented outputs and provide technical advice to stakeholders. This role involves spearheading resource mobilization, overseeing dissemination of research, and managing corporate consultations and partnerships.
Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of research-oriented outputs and provide technical advice in public policy research and analysis to stakeholders.
- Spearhead resource mobilization and oversee the implementation of contracted projects.
- Oversee the effective dissemination of research outputs and steer quality control processes.
- Manage partnerships, collaborative research, corporate consultations, and public participation in the Institute’s programs.
- Guide improvements in performance, efficiency, and impact of department functions.
- Steer the implementation of corporate governance principles, risk management, and corruption prevention strategies.
- Supervise, coach, mentor, and facilitate training for staff to build a high-performing team.
- Lead the preparation, monitoring, and review of annual work plans, budgets, and performance management frameworks.
- Oversee the development and review of procurement and assets disposal plans for the department.
- Maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including policymakers, implementers, and development partners.
- Coordinate knowledge management and data management activities for the Institute.
- Review quarterly and annual reports for management, the Board, and donors.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Cumulative service period of fifteen (15) years of experience, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Assistant Director or in a comparable position.
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Law, Engineering, Geo-Spatial Information Science, Urban Planning, Gender, Nutrition, Food Science, International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, International Affairs, Social Policy, Public Health, Public Finance, Environmental Studies, or related social sciences.
- Master’s degree in any of the above-mentioned fields from a recognized institution.
- PhD in any of the above-mentioned fields from a recognized institution.
- Completion of a leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Minimum of four (4) publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, or book chapters.
- Minimum of six (6) published research papers or reports.
