Role Overview
The Embu County Government is seeking a highly qualified and experienced professional to fill the role of Deputy Director of Medical Services/Senior Medical Specialist specializing in Orthopaedic Surgery. This position involves providing high-level specialized surgical care while contributing to the administrative management of medical services within the county's healthcare system.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Specialized Clinical Care: Provide expert orthopaedic surgical services and consultations to patients.
Medical Leadership: Oversee medical service delivery and assist in the management of healthcare facilities or departments.
Policy Development: Assist in developing and implementing medical policies, clinical protocols, and quality standards of care.
Mentorship: Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior medical officers, interns, and other healthcare staff.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all medical practices adhere to national healthcare regulations and professional ethical standards.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work alongside other medical specialists and departments to ensure holistic patient management.
Record Management: Maintain comprehensive and accurate medical records and participate in regular clinical audits.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must be a Kenyan Citizen.
Education: Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Specialization: Master of Medicine in Orthopaedic Surgery or equivalent postgraduate qualification.
Professional Registration: Active registration and a valid practicing license from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
Identity: A valid National Identity Card.
Certifications: Academic and professional certificates and testimonials.
Constitutional Compliance: Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya, including valid clearance certificates from:
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
