Curator I

The role of Curator I involves the dedicated management and conservation of park facilities and animal collections within the County Government of Kitui. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the physical upkeep of the park, supervising staff, and maintaining the welfare of captive animals and associated infrastructure, including visitor management.

Salary Scale and Terms of Service

• Salary Scale: Ksh. 39,700 x 1,470 – 41,170 x 1,520 – 42,690 x 1,710 – 44,400 x 1,920 – 46,320 x 2,000 – 48,320 x 2,290 – 50,610 x 2,350 – 52,690 p.m.
• Terms of Service: Permanent and Pensionable.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Overseeing physical maintenance of the park.
• Supervising staff under him/her.
• Ensuring conservation/preservation/management of animals on exhibition.
• Ensuring the welfare of the captive animals and associated facilities/infrastructure including visitor management.
• Researching, compiling and preparing written information about catalogues.
• Presenting/displaying reptile and related artistic collections.
• Collaborating with other similar institutions.

Requirements for Appointment

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must meet the following requirements:

• Be a Citizen of Kenya.
• Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Wildlife Management, Environmental Science, Ranch Management, and other related fields from a recognized institution.
• Experience in wildlife conservation with a reputable institution will be an added advantage.
