Role Overview
The Corporate Affairs and Communications Officer will support the execution of corporate communications, digital content development, and public relations. The primary objective is to ensure consistent messaging across all channels while safeguarding the SACCO’s brand identity and reputation.
Key Responsibilities
Communications & Brand Management
- Draft and disseminate internal and external communications including circulars, notices, newsletters, and member updates.
- Support the preparation of official materials such as speeches, briefs, and key messaging documents.
- Ensure consistency of messaging across all communication channels and maintain standardized templates.
- Ensure strict adherence to corporate branding, regulatory requirements, and communication standards.
Digital Strategy & Content
- Assist in managing and updating digital platforms, including the official website, member portal, mobile app, and social media channels.
- Help develop and schedule content aligned with SACCO products and strategic initiatives.
- Monitor digital engagement metrics and prepare periodic performance reports for management.
Public Relations & Stakeholder Engagement
- Draft press releases and assist in coordinating media engagements and interviews.
- Maintain and update the media contacts database and track media coverage.
- Support communication efforts with members, stakeholders, regulators, and partners.
- Assist in coordinating communications for SACCO events, campaigns, and stakeholder forums.
Reporting & Administration
- Prepare and submit monthly communications reports to the CEO and management covering digital performance, media coverage, and stakeholder engagement.
- Maintain organized communication records and escalate sensitive matters to management appropriately.
- Perform any other duties assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Successful candidates must meet the requirements of Chapter 6 of the Constitution of Kenya by obtaining the necessary clearance documentation.
Professional Qualifications
- Professional certifications in communications, digital marketing, and public relations.
- Professional qualification in Public Relations/Communications (e.g., CIPR, IPRSK).
- Membership in a relevant professional body is an added advantage.
Experience
- At least 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, and digital marketing.
- Experience in communications and public relations within regulated financial institutions is preferred.
