Housing Finance Company of Kenya (HF Group) was incorporated as the premier mortgage Finance Institution in Kenya licensed under the Banking Act. The Core Banking Support Officer is responsible for the support and maintenance of Banking and payment systems running within the bank for optimal performance. This involves administering, maintaining, monitoring, and performing custodial duties on the Core Banking System and all other Banking and Payment Systems so as to ensure optimal use, efficiency, reliability, and stability as per agreed levels of service delivery.
Principle Accountabilities
Systems Support: Provide support and maintenance for test and production Banking and payment systems (e.g., Core Banking, Clearing System, AML, CRM, Custody, DAO) to ensure optimal performance.
Administration & Monitoring: Administer, maintain, monitor, and perform custodial duties on the Core Banking System and other Banking and Payment Systems to ensure efficiency, reliability, and stability.
Upgrades & Enhancements: Execute the planning, analysis, design, configuration, development, integration, system upgrades, and enhancements of Core Banking and other systems in line with the Change Management policy.
Process Transformation: Oversee the transformation of Systems, Back Office processes, and documentation of operational procedures, System Policies, and Standards for reference and compliance.
User Support: Provide user support by availing accurate and reliable data, training, and advising on appropriate solutions applicable within the systems for maximum productivity.
Analysis & Development: Analyze, design, program, and develop accurate functionality and reports.
Vendor Coordination: Coordinate users and service providers for issue resolution through reporting, tracking, and enhancement to business applications.
Performance Management: Monitor systems performance by reviewing relevant alerts/reports against set banking system performance targets.
Real-time KPI Monitoring: Ensure real-time monitoring of Banking and Payment Systems performance by monitoring KPIs through an automated monitoring and event notification system.
Knowledge Sharing: Ensure development and maintenance of an FAQ for the Banking and Payment Systems and cascading of the same to relevant teams.
Business Continuity: Ensure BCP for the Banking and Payment Systems by running periodic tests for compliance.
Integration Performance: Ensure optimal performance and uptime of integration endpoints by testing and documenting acceptable TPS (Transactions Per Second) before releasing to Middleware and channels using industry-standard clients (e.g., SOAP/UI, Postman).
Key Competencies and Skills
Proficiency in managing Operating Environments – Windows OS Servers and Linux OS.
Basic SQL query writing skills, design and analysis of system workflows, and system administration.
Lead the management of integration endpoint clients such as SOAP/UI and Postman.
Excellent knowledge in various message types e.g. REST/JSON and SOAP/XML.
Working knowledge of the role databases have in managing business processes and information.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
An IT-related degree from a reputable institution.
Certification in ITIL.
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in supporting a busy ICT environment with good knowledge of banking operations and system procedures.
Hands-on experience in managing Core Banking Systems and Applications.
