Job Description
AAR Hospital is a 140-bed Level 5 private referral hospital located along Kiambu Road adjacent to Karura Forest. We are seeking a qualified Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist to join our team.
Job Purpose
The overall purpose of this job is to manage patients at the hospital requiring obstetrics and gynecology care in both outpatient and inpatient departments, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and safe services across all disciplines where obstetrics and gynecology care is required.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance: Participate in the development and implementation of quality assessment plans, ensuring continuous improvement of the obstetrics and gynaecology department services. Ensure appropriate documentation is completed and maintained.
Patient Assessment & Care: Carry out patient assessment, treatment, and stabilisation, as well as other specialised procedures to provide curative services in line with established protocols. Promote patient centricity, including providing clinical support during emergencies such as resuscitation, admission, discharge, or referral to the appropriate consultants and units.
Clinical Quality Assurance: Contribute to the departmental clinical quality assurance system, including regular clinical audits, review of patient care (length of patient stay, mortality and morbidity reviews, audit, and regular clinical meetings) to ensure quality services are provided to patients.
Research and Development: Actively engage in a wide range of research and development initiatives, creating awareness of the hospital's research programs that are at the forefront of science in patient care.
Oversight of Quality and Patient Safety: Assist in planning and setting priorities for the obstetrics and gynaecology department through quality improvement and patient safety activities. Review clinical-related patient complaints and ensure a satisfactory resolution with proper corrective and preventive action.
Consultant Collaboration: Work with established consultants to ensure equitable provision of obstetrics and gynaecology services across the whole hospital. This includes collaborative working, mutual cover for leave, and ensuring adherence to principles of clinical governance.
Learning and Development: Support learning and development initiatives by identifying skills gaps and providing learning and development opportunities for medical and nursing staff. Plan and direct research and development appropriate to the facility.
