Compliance Officer II

The Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) is seeking to recruit twenty (20) Compliance Officers II. The Authority is a state corporation established under the Agriculture and Food Authority Act of 2013 with the role to Regulate, Develop, and Promote Scheduled Crops value chains for increased economic growth. The Compliance Officer II will be responsible for ensuring adherence to industry standards, food safety, and quality regulations across the production and processing of scheduled crops.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Conducting inspections and compliance audits for growers, growers' associations, dealers, and manufacturers.
• Monitoring activities associated with the production, dealing, handling, and processing of scheduled crops.
• Monitoring imports and exports of scheduled crops for compliance with food safety and quality standards and compiling reports.
• Undertaking regular surveillance and audits on agro-processing facilities and farms to ensure compliance and compiling reports.
• Enforcing industry codes of practice and standards.
• Monitoring produce and product quality.
• Collecting and preparing samples for analysis and analyzing test results reports for decision making.

Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have:

• A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Food Science and Technology, Agricultural Sciences, Agricultural Engineering, Horticulture, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, Agricultural Extension and Education, Agronomy, Biology, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Proficiency in computer applications.

Statutory Requirements (Chapter Six)

Shortlisted candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 by providing:

• Police Clearance Certificate from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.
• Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
• Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
• Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
• Report from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
• Clearance from the Commission for University Education for degrees obtained outside Kenya.
