Agriculture and Food Authority (AFA) is a state corporation established to regulate, develop, and promote scheduled crops value chains for increased economic growth. This is an entry and training grade for diploma holders. Officers at this level work under the supervision of senior staff, focusing on laboratory analysis and quality standards for agricultural products.
Responsibilities and Duties
Receiving, drawing, recording, and preparing samples for analysis.
Archiving and retrieving samples for future reference.
Maintaining the hygienic standards of the laboratory and laboratory equipment for quality analysis.
Maintaining records of analysis results for future reference.
Reporting on preventive maintenance on all laboratory equipment and machinery.
Maintaining and ensuring the safety of all machines and equipment.
Calibrating and maintaining proper records on all test machines and equipment as scheduled.
Collecting, collating, and compiling information on the testing and grading of scheduled crop samples.
Person Specifications and Qualifications
A Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Biochemistry, Food Science and Technology, Coffee Technology, Laboratory Technology, Biotechnology, Horticulture, Agriculture Sciences, Textile Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Requirements for Shortlisted Candidates
Successful candidates will be required to satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya 2010 by providing:
Police Clearance Certificate (DCI).
Clearance Certificate from the Higher Education Loans Board (HELB).
Tax Compliance Certificate from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
Clearance from the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Report from an Approved Credit Reference Bureau (CRB).
Clearance from the Commission for University Education for degrees obtained outside Kenya.
