Job Description
Equity Afia is looking for a Community Oral Health Officer (COHO) to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering preventive, promotive, and basic curative oral health services, particularly in community and rural settings, while adhering to professional standards of operation.
Responsibilities and Duties
Deliver preventive and promotive oral health services.
Perform basic curative dental procedures including examinations, extractions, prophylaxis, and fluoride application.
Organize and lead community outreach programs, school dental health initiatives, and mobile dental clinics.
Provide oral health education and mobilization for underserved or rural populations.
Manage patient records and utilize Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) for reporting.
Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control standards.
Qualifications and Requirements
Diploma or Degree in Community Oral Health from a recognized institution.
Registration and valid licensing from the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council (KMPDC).
A minimum of two (2) years’ post-internship experience.
Valid Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS).
Proficiency in computer skills, specifically in Health Management Information Systems.
Strong clinical skills in dental hygiene and oral health.
Skills and Competencies
Expertise in oral disease prevention and health education.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially with diverse populations.
High level of attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
Commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with industry trends.
Previous experience in community outreach or mobile clinics is highly preferred.
