Job Description
The Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR) is seeking a Communications Officer – Digital Media for its Nairobi office. The role involves managing, creating, and publishing high-quality digital content to increase the visibility and impact of CIFOR's research and activities. The officer will oversee social media platforms, design branded materials, and support research teams in their communication efforts.
Key Responsibilities
Content Creation
Manage, create and publish social media and website content, including features, videos, infographics, podcasts, and other multimedia materials.
Design social media templates for the dissemination of SEI publications, reports, media coverage, and other project outputs.
Develop and implement the center's social media calendar, aligning posts with SEI Africa communication goals.
Adapt reports and publications into compelling multi-media content such as documentaries, reels, social media cards, and other visual formats.
Write scripts and manage end-to-end production of multi-media content, including videos, reels and podcasts.
Collaborate with Global Communications to ensure consistent messaging with SEI global platforms.
Branding
Produce branded materials, such as reports, flyers, posters, brochures, presentations, and infographics, in line with SEI visual identity guidelines.
Ensure on-brand implementation of visual identity guidelines across the organization.
Capacity Strengthening
Provide guidance, tools, templates, and content to research teams to enhance coherence in messaging and brand.
Support the delivery of digital and visual communication training for research teams for impact communications.
Reporting
Periodically submit and update reporting metrics on social media and website content to the Communications Specialist and Global Communications.
Contribute to reporting on communications activities in the SEI Annual Results Report (ARR).
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Digital Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, Public Relations or a related field.
At least four (4) years of relevant experience in research, development, or policy-oriented organizations.
