Job Description
Role Overview
The Communications Intern will support the development and implementation of the organization’s communication activities. The intern will play an active role in creating, drafting, and contributing to communication products. While the intern contributes actively to the development of communication outputs, all materials will be reviewed and approved by the supervisor prior to publication or dissemination.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Content Development and Support
Assist in drafting communication materials including articles, newsletters, blog posts, and press releases.
Contribute ideas and content for communication campaigns and storytelling initiatives.
Support the development of success stories, human interest pieces, and case studies.
Edit and proofread content to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines.
Digital and Social Media Support
Assist in managing and updating social media platforms.
Draft and schedule social media posts for review and approval.
Support the creation of multimedia content.
Monitor engagement and compile basic performance reports.
Communications Product Development
Actively participate in the development of communication products such as reports, brochures, briefs, and presentations.
Support layout, formatting, and packaging of communication materials.
Incorporate feedback from the team and revise content accordingly.
Ensure all outputs align with organizational messaging and standards.
Media and Stakeholder Engagement Support
Assist in maintaining media and stakeholder contact lists.
Support preparation of media briefs, press kits, and talking points.
Monitor media coverage and compile summaries for internal use.
Event and Campaign Support
Support the planning and execution of communication campaigns and events.
Assist in preparing communication materials for events.
Provide on-site communications support.
Administrative and Team Support
Maintain organized archives of communication materials (photos, videos, documents).
Support internal communication tasks.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies
Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
Creativity and ability to generate content ideas.
Basic knowledge of social media platforms and digital communication tools.
Familiarity with design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Suite) is an added advantage.
Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Ability to take feedback constructively and work collaboratively.
