The Cleaner is responsible for the thorough cleaning of all designated technical areas, offices, Single Living Accommodation (SLA), and Substitute Service Family Accommodation (SSFA) within the BATUK Nyati Barracks. The role involves maintaining high standards of cleanliness while working both independently and as part of a team to ensure a safe and hygienic environment for all personnel.
Main Responsibilities
General Cleaning: Perform thorough cleaning of all offices, technical areas, and accommodation in accordance with schedules provided by the Camp Manager and cleaning supervisor.
Security: Ensure all offices and unoccupied accommodations are properly secured after cleaning is completed.
Daily Tasks: Execute tasks including mopping, emptying bins, cleaning all surfaces, sweeping, and dusting IT equipment.
Exterior Maintenance: Keep the immediate exterior areas of office buildings clean.
Deep Cleaning: Conduct a weekly deep clean, which may involve starting earlier and finishing earlier to minimize impact on office staff.
Resource Management: Demand cleaning materials and equipment through the cleaning supervisor; ensure materials are used according to instructions and stored safely following COSHH guidelines.
Quality Control: Work unsupervised to deliver high cleanliness standards and report any maintenance faults promptly to supervisors.
Staff Support: Be prepared to cover duties for other cleaners during sick leave or annual leave.
Safety Compliance: Ensure the use of correct Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for daily tasks and comply with general Health and Safety instructions.
Facility Custodianship: Act as a building custodian and manage water coolant and bottles when required.
Waste Disposal: Ensure all rubbish and gathered litter are properly secured for collection.
Stakeholder Relations: Maintain professional customer relations and treat all colleagues and military personnel with respect.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: BA/BSc/HND degree as specified in the recruitment criteria.
Core Competencies: Communicating and Influencing (Lead Competence), Working Together, and Planning and Managing Resources to Deliver Results.
Desired Attributes: Well-organized, self-driven, and possesses good communication skills.
Specific Knowledge: Understanding of recycling processes and the environmental reasons behind them.
Training and Clearances
Ability to obtain security clearance.
Completion of Manual Handling training.
Orientation on the structure and function of the British Army, Health and Safety, and Equipment Care.
Orientation of all Areas of Responsibility (AoR) within Nyati.
