The Chief Security Officer (CSO) will head the Security Department at Egerton University, taking responsibility for developing, implementing, and managing the overall security strategy of the university. The CSO will design risk mitigation plans, coordinate emergency responses, and manage security staff and technology.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy Development: Formulate, implement, and direct comprehensive university-wide security strategies.
Operational Security: Identify vulnerabilities within the institution and implement measures to mitigate risk.
Crisis Management: Direct emergency response and crisis management actions to address threats, natural disasters, and workplace violence.
Investigations & Reporting: Lead and coordinate investigative reporting on security incidents.
Team & Agency Coordination: Manage security personnel and establish a close liaison with government agencies such as the National Police Service and National Intelligence Service.
Technology Management: Oversee the utilization of CCTV systems, access control mechanisms, and cybersecurity tools.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: Master’s degree in Security Studies, Criminology and Criminal Justice, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum of ten (10) years in security management, law enforcement, police service, or corporate security.
Leadership: At least eight (8) years of leadership experience in a senior security role.
Specialized Knowledge:
Strong understanding of Kenyan security laws.
Practical knowledge of modern CCTV, access control systems, and cybersecurity technologies.
Strong capabilities in investigative reporting, emergency response, and threat handling.
