Role Overview
The Chief Manager, Corporate Research & Strategy is a senior leadership position responsible for steering the development and implementation of corporate-wide strategies. The goal is to ensure Konza Technopolis is established according to Global Smart City Standards and effectively positioned to drive Kenya's economic development agenda, as envisioned in the Vision 2030 Blueprint, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and other international standards for smart and sustainable cities.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Strategic Leadership: Lead the formulation and implementation of corporate strategies and plans to establish Konza Technopolis as a global innovation hub.
Resource Mobilization: Oversee the development of strategies to raise approximately Ksh. 20 billion annually for mega infrastructure projects and business operations.
Research and Benchmarking: Direct organization-wide research using global, regional, and national benchmarks to inform competitive policy, strategy, and resource planning.
Project Planning: Spearhead the planning for major development projects, including economic feasibility plans, financing plans, and technical studies for commercial and industrial sectors.
Enabler Identification: Identify and prioritize key enablers of development across the organization to facilitate the growth of Konza Technopolis.
Performance Management: Manage the Authority’s Performance Contracting process in line with government guidelines and oversee corporate performance reporting.
Partnership Management: Lead the development of effective partnership systems at global, regional, and local levels to maximize the achievement of the Technopolis mandate.
Economic Strategy: Monitor economic development strategies to accelerate growth, create future-fit jobs, and contribute to Kenya's GDP.
Policy Advocacy: Lead initiatives to establish stakeholder linkages ensuring enabling policies are in place for socio-economic development.
Quality Management: Oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) to ensure international service excellence at all customer touchpoints.
Knowledge Management: Establish linkages for a whole-of-government approach to knowledge management, positioning the Technopolis as a knowledge hub.
Staff Development: Provide coaching and mentorship to foster a high-performing, innovative, and creative departmental team.
Person Specification and Qualifications
At least twelve (12) years of work experience, with at least three (3) years in a Senior Management position.
Master’s Degree in Economics, Statistics, Finance, Public Policy, Business Administration, Development Studies, Monitoring and Evaluation, Strategic Management, or an equivalent qualification.
Bachelor’s Degree in any Scheduled Science, Economics, Statistics, Finance, Public Policy, Business Administration, Development Studies, or Strategic Management.
Professional qualification and active membership in a relevant professional body in good standing.
Successful completion of a Leadership Course from a recognized institution.
Demonstrated merit and ability in work performance and results.
Proficiency in computer applications.
