The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for developing, enhancing, and overseeing the firm’s financial management policies by monitoring robust financial reporting systems and developing mechanisms for cost-effectiveness. The CFO will provide strategic financial leadership, ensure the firm’s financial health and support its long-term objectives. This position features a dual reporting structure to the Africa Chief Financial Officer and the East Africa Chief Operating Officer.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership, Transformation & Innovation: Lead the development and execution of finance strategies aligned with the firm’s objectives, driving change initiatives, digital transformation, and the adoption of analytics, automation, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and insight.
Financial Planning & Budgeting: Oversee the preparation, management, and control of annual budgets, capital structure, and funding strategies, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost management.
Financial Reporting & Analysis: Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of management reports and financial statements to support informed decision-making by leadership.
Financial Systems & Process Improvement: Monitor, evaluate, and enhance financial systems, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with accounting standards and best practices.
Risk Management & Compliance: Oversee financial risk management, internal controls, insurance, and compliance with all relevant regulatory frameworks.
Tax Strategy & Treasury Management: Lead the firm’s tax planning, compliance, and treasury management, including cross-border operations and regulatory considerations.
Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including Partners, Service Offering Leaders, clients, regulators, external auditors, and the wider Deloitte network.
Talent Leadership & Succession Planning: Identify, recruit, mentor, and develop finance team members while maintaining robust succession plans for critical roles and fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusion, and ethical behavior in line with Deloitte’s values.
Operational Excellence: Oversee accounts payable and receivable, expenditure controls, and ensure financial transactions are properly authorized and documented.
Qualifications and Experience
A Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, or any other relevant field from a recognized institution.
A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
Professional accounting qualification (CPA/ACCA).
10+ years’ relevant work experience with at least 4 years’ senior management experience in a busy finance function.
Experience working in a professional services firm will be an added advantage.
