Job Description
Murang’a County is one of the five counties in the Central region of the Republic of Kenya. It is bordered to the North by Nyeri, to the South by Kiambu, to the West by Nyandarua and to the East by Kirinyaga, Embu and Machakos counties.
Role Overview
The Chairperson of the County Public Service Board is responsible for providing leadership to the Board, guiding human resource governance, disciplinary control, and public service ethics across the county public service in accordance with the Constitution of Kenya and relevant legislation.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Chair meetings of the Board.
Guide the Board in exercising disciplinary control over county public service.
Prepare regular reports for submission to the County Assembly on the execution of the functions of the board.
Promote the County Public Service values and principles referred to in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010.
Advise the County Government on human resource management and development.
Advise the County Government on implementation and monitoring of the national performance management system in the county.
Make recommendations to the Salaries and Remuneration Commission on behalf of the county government on the remuneration, pension, and gratuities for county public service employees.
Qualifications and Experience Requirements
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree from a university recognized in Kenya. (A Master’s Degree will be an added advantage).
Have a working experience of not less than ten (10) years in top-level management.
Satisfy the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution on leadership and integrity.
Be a professional who demonstrates absence of breach of the relevant professional code of conduct.
Not be a Public or State Officer.
Understand the diversity within the County.
Be visionary and a strategic thinker.
Possess the capacity to work under pressure to meet strict deadlines.
Meet other requirements as per Section 58 of the County Government Act and other relevant laws.
Terms of Service
Appointment is for a single term of six (6) years.
Serve on a part-time basis.
