The Kenya Institute of Mass Communication (KIMC) is seeking to recruit a qualified Carpenter to manage and execute carpentry tasks within the institution. Established in 1961, KIMC is a leading trainer in electronic engineering and media technicians. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and constructing wooden structures and furniture to support the institute's operations.
Responsibilities
Construct, install, and repair various wooden structures and fixtures across the institute.
Perform routine maintenance and repairs on office and classroom furniture, including desks, chairs, and cabinets.
Repair and replace damaged wooden frames, doors, and window fittings.
Utilize hand and power tools safely to measure, cut, and shape wood and other materials.
Assemble and fasten materials to create frameworks or props as required for institutional events or facility needs.
Conduct inspections of existing structures to identify and address necessary repairs.
Requirements and Qualifications
Must possess a Government Trade Test Certificate Grade III in Carpentry or a Certificate/Diploma in Carpentry.
Minimum grade of D- (minus) in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE).
Practical knowledge of carpentry techniques and safety standards.
