About the Role
As a Cambridge Music Teacher at our Tatu International campus, you will provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable and deliver high-quality music education aligned with the Cambridge curriculum. Your role involves planning activities that promote physical, mental, and social development, observing student progress, and maintaining professional records.
Key Responsibilities
Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable.
Plan and execute appropriate activities for the children each day according to the curriculum, schemes of work, and lesson plans.
Provide a variety of materials and resources for children to explore, manipulate, and use, both in learning activities and in imaginative play.
Instruct and monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials to prevent injuries and damage.
Organize and lead activities designed to promote physical, mental, and social development, such as games, arts and crafts, music, and storytelling.
Prepare materials, classrooms, and other indoor and outdoor spaces to facilitate creative play, learning and motor-skill activities, and safety.
Observe and evaluate each child’s progress and provide a written report to the Principal through line manager(s) and other school leaders and parents.
Monitor and keep record/reports of the children’s progress and development.
Instruct students individually and in groups, adapting teaching methods to meet students' varying needs and interests.
Assimilate arriving children to the school environment by greeting them and selecting activities of interest to them.
Establish and enforce rules for behavior, and policies and procedures to maintain order among students.
Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competence.
Assist in daily routine activities (e.g., naptime, bus loading/off-loading, serving and supervising meals, bathroom breaks, play, parent pick-up/drop-off).
Keep, maintain, and regularly update professional records (Records of work covered, progress records, rubrics, and students portfolios).
Chaperone after-school clubs of interest or as assigned.
Participate in character building and behavior management.
Role-specific responsibilities for a Music Coach:
Administer Music Lessons under the Nova Pioneer Instructional Model in line with Cambridge requirements.
Oversee and coordinate Music activities and projects in the school programme.
Prepare Schemes of Work and design plans for Music lessons.
Teach individual lessons lasting between 30-45 minutes usually incorporating elements of general musicianship such as ear training and theory as well as instrumental technique and interpretation.
Liaise with Learning Design & Music Specialists in other campuses for alignment in instruction and learning of Music.
Set relevant themes for school musical activities and programmes.
Plan individual lessons and overall Schemes of Work for subscribing students.
Arrange lesson schedules and enter students for examinations.
Develop your knowledge of materials and repertoire for students at different stages of their musical development.
Communicate with the school and parents about the students’ lessons and progress.
Prepare students for performances, examinations, auditions, and festivals.
Organise music events in and outside school and the school annual concert.
Maintain an inventory of learning resources for music.
Coach teammates who support in music lessons.
Skills and Qualifications Required
TSC (Teachers Service Commission) certification is mandatory.
Relevant Degree in Music (BA/BSc/HND).
3+ years of teaching experience in music.
Excellent communication skills (clear and effective written and verbal communication).
Flexibility and openness to change; ability to handle uncertainty and complexity.
Proactive problem-solving skills.
