Role Overview
We are seeking a Biomedical Engineer specialized in dental equipment to provide expert-level service in the repair, calibration, and maintenance of clinical instrumentation and support systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing professional-level inventory assessments, audits, and preventive maintenance. You will also provide remedial corrective maintenance and maintain comprehensive documentation of all service events, tests, and maintenance performed on clinical equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Assessment & Installation: Conduct thorough assessments of installation sites to ensure space, utilities, and environmental conditions meet requirements. Coordinate with facility staff for site preparation and create detailed installation plans and timelines.
- Equipment Setup & Calibration: Set up equipment with proper alignment and utility connections. Perform initial calibrations to manufacturer standards and configure software settings based on user needs.
- Testing & Safety: Conduct operational tests (mechanical, electrical, and software) and perform rigorous safety checks including electrical safety, leakage current tests, and grounding checks.
- Training & Support: Provide training to medical personnel and technicians on equipment operation, safety protocols, and basic troubleshooting.
- Maintenance & Repair: Execute preventive maintenance and electrical safety testing. Act as the first point of contact for malfunctions, performing on-site troubleshooting and repairs or coordinating with manufacturers for major issues.
- Documentation & Inventory: Maintain digital records of repairs, calibration data, and safety checks. Manage precise inventory records for clinical equipment and oversee warranties.
- Research & Development: Conduct research to advance dental technology and collaborate with medical professionals to improve existing dental treatments and tools.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or Higher Diploma in Biomedical Engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience as a Biomedical Engineer in a hospital or dental setting.
- Exceptional knowledge of the structure and uses of dental equipment.
- Ability to analyze, repair, and test electronic and electromechanical equipment.
- Proficiency in running diagnostic programs and performing preventive maintenance inspections.
- Strong communication skills to present complex technical information in layman's terms.
- A hands-on approach with a sense of urgency in problem-solving.
- Flexibility to respond to emergencies as required.
- Ability to conduct training needs assessments for machine end-users.
