Role Overview
Java House is looking for a dedicated and skilled Barista in Eldoret to prepare and serve exceptional beverages, handle customer interactions, and maintain high standards of counter cleanliness, inventory management, and operating procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Preparing and serving hot and cold drinks such as coffee, tea, artisan, and speciality beverages.
Handling customer interactions at various levels of customer touch points.
Consistently following the set Standard Operating Procedures (S.O.Ps) during production.
Advising the Barista in charge on stock levels.
Maintaining a clean, tidy, and working counter at all times.
Assisting the barista in charge in running the barista counter.
Doing the daily stock take of counter products at the end of the shift.
Collaborating with other team members to ensure a positive customer experience.
Ensuring sufficient supply of products for sale at the counter by doing sufficient back up.
Ensuring all take-away and eat-in orders are dispensed promptly according to the order docket.
Arranging the pastry case and ensuring that it is always clean.
Reconfirming of orders done on Vuka.
Controlling of wastages.
Ensuring there is enough change at all times.
Maintaining shift float money and ensuring no shortages.
Timely closure of counter variances.
Taking care of counter machines.
Ensuring countable daily stock are done correctly.
Carrying out any other task as may be instructed by superiors.
Key Performance Indicators
Ensures that recipes and S.O.Ps are followed to the letter for production of beverages and standards for portion sizes are consistently maintained.
Ensures that the S.O.Ps for counter cleanliness and hygiene are maintained and consistently adhered to.
Ensures that the pastry display, merchandise display, takeaway station, and condiment organizers are clean, appropriately stocked, and positioned.
Ensures that all crockery and cutlery are appropriately arranged for visual display and use; the chilled glasses are sparkling clean.
Maintains accurate record of stocks at the barista counter and station allocated, advising the barista in charge when stock falls below par level.
Must be well-versed in menu and product knowledge.
Qualifications & Requirements
BA/BSc/HND degree or equivalent qualification.
Ability to think and make quick decisions under pressure; strong interpersonal and problem-solving abilities.
Highly responsible and reliable.
Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team.
In-house training in baristaring and service.
Excellent customer care technique and application.
