Food for Education is looking for an Associate Product Manager who is passionate about solving real-world problems and eager to learn the craft of product management in a high-impact environment. Your work will help shape products that make a tangible difference for children, families, and communities across Kenya. You will work closely with cross-functional teams including product designers, engineers, and field operations to support the planning, execution, and delivery of digital solutions and strategic projects. You will help manage and coordinate projects from concept to completion, ensuring they stay on track, meet objectives, and deliver impact.
You will also play an active role in user research, gathering feedback, conducting interviews, and observing how solutions are used in the field. By staying connected to the realities of stakeholders and operations, you will turn feedback and data into meaningful product and project improvements that enable the delivery of more meals, more efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Support end-to-end product development, from discovery and requirements gathering to launch and ongoing iteration.
Collaborate with stakeholders across Product, Design, Engineering, QA, Data, and Operations to turn operational challenges into clear problem statements and actionable product solutions.
Take an active role in user research—helping to plan, conduct, and synthesize interviews, surveys, usability tests, and field visits to deeply understand the needs of students, parents, kitchen teams, and school administrators.
Help define, prioritize, and track product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria with a bias toward incremental delivery and measurable impact.
Analyze usage data and qualitative feedback to identify opportunities for improvement, and work with the team to drive continuous product enhancements.
Prepare and present your work, findings, and recommendations to the Digital/Product Manager and other stakeholders, ensuring clear communication of project progress, trade-offs, and learnings.
Take ownership of assigned projects and tasks, following through from initiation to completion and keeping your manager updated at every step.
Contribute to product documentation, user guides, and training materials to ensure smooth adoption and understanding of new features.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education: BA/BSc/HND degree.
Experience: 2–4 years of experience in a product, project, or operations role—ideally within a technology, social enterprise, or fast-paced startup environment.
Problem-Solving: Strong skills and the ability to break down complex issues into actionable steps.
Organizational Skills: Excellent ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines.
Communication: Clear and effective written and verbal communication, including the ability to present findings to managers and stakeholders.
Collaboration: Comfortable working across cross-functional teams and engaging directly with users in the field.
Analytical Mindset: Willingness to dive into data and user feedback to generate actionable insights.
Research: Experience participating in or supporting user research, usability testing, or field studies.
Mindset: Eagerness to learn and grow in product management with a proactive approach.
Nice to Have
Experience working on digital products in emerging markets or operational settings.
Familiarity with Agile development or iterative product delivery.
Exposure to user research methodologies and basic data analysis.
Interest in social impact, education, or food systems.
Comfort presenting to diverse audiences, from field operators to senior leadership.
