Job Description
This is the entry and training grade for the Assistant Health Records and Information Management cadre. An officer at this level will work under the guidance of a senior and experienced officer to ensure the efficient management of health records and patient data within the county's medical facilities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Patient Documentation: Receiving and documenting patients at hospital reception areas to ensure accurate registration.
Appointment Management: Registering and booking appointments for patients to clinics and consultants.
Records Maintenance: Storing and retrieving medical records documents while maintaining record safety and confidentiality.
Clinic Support: Preparing clinics, updating bed bureau, and editing patient case records as required.
Data Management: Gathering data from different sources, capturing data from service points, and maintaining patient master indices.
Administrative Tasks: Balancing daily bed returns and directing patients to the relevant clinics and specialty consultants.
Medical Coding: Assigning codes to diseases and surgical procedures according to the international classification of diseases and procedures in medicine.
Reporting: Preparing health records and reports for administrative use.
Requirements and Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
A Diploma in Health Records and Information Technology from a recognized institution.
A Certificate in computer application skills from a recognized institution.
