Job Description
The Assistant Director, Macroeconomics at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA) is a senior leadership role responsible for coordinating research-oriented outputs and technical advisory in public policy research. This role involves overseeing the Macroeconomics Division, managing resource mobilization, and ensuring the quality and dissemination of research outputs to stakeholders including policymakers, development partners, and research institutions.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate the delivery of research-oriented outputs according to set targets.
Provide technical advisory in public policy research and analysis to stakeholders.
Lead resource mobilization efforts and manage the implementation of contracted projects.
Organize effective dissemination of research findings and promote quality control processes for all outputs.
Foster partnerships and collaborative research with diverse stakeholders.
Review the performance and impact of Department functions, providing strategic guidance on improvements.
Coordinate corporate consultation, public participation, and stakeholder engagement in Institute programs.
Supervise risk management and maintain robust systems for accountability and internal controls.
Implement corporate governance principles and ensure adherence to national policies and corruption prevention strategies.
Oversee annual work plans, budgets, and performance management frameworks aligned with the Institute’s strategic plan.
Review public policies and strategies to ensure alignment with the Institute’s mandate.
Prepare quarterly and annual reports for management, the Board, and donors.
Requirements and Person Specifications
A cumulative service period of twelve (12) years, with at least three (3) years at the grade of Senior Policy Analyst or a comparable position.
Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Public Policy, Development Studies, Law, Engineering, Geo-Spatial Information Science, Urban Planning, Gender, Nutrition, Food Science, International Relations, Political Science, Public Administration, Social Policy, Public Health, Public Finance, Environmental Studies, or a related field from a recognized institution.
Master’s degree in any of the above fields (Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, etc.) or related social sciences from a recognized institution.
Completion of a Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
A minimum of three (3) publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, or book chapters.
A minimum of four (4) published research papers or reports.
Demonstrated merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
