The Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development (KICD) was established by the Government of Kenya on the 14th of January 2013 under an Act of Parliament (Act No.4 of 2013), to provide research based curricula and curriculum support materials responsive to the needs of the society.
Role Overview
The Assistant Director, Internal Audit, is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the internal audit function within the Institute, ensuring compliance, financial integrity, and effective risk management.
Job Specifications (Duties and Responsibilities)
Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail:
- Coordinating implementation of sound internal audit policies and strategies.
- Coordinating the implementation of the risk assessment framework.
- Interpreting regulations of the Institute.
- Allocating and coordinating audit assignments.
- Coordinating implementation of audit plans, setting targets and budgets.
- Implementing fraud investigation strategy and ensuring that the operational plan and procedures are implemented.
- Interpreting financial policies for sound auditing principles, practices and control.
- Developing audit programmes.
- Coordinating post audit reviews.
- Preparing and submitting periodic audit reports.
Person Specifications and Qualifications
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Commerce (Accounting option); Commerce (Finance option); Business Administration (Accounting option) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Advanced Degree: Master’s degree in any of the following disciplines: Business Administration (Finance); Business Administration (Accounting); Master of Science in Finance or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Professional Certification: Part III of the Certified Public Accountants (CPA) Examination or Part III of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants (ACCA) or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
- Experience: At least 10 years’ relevant experience and 4 years in a management role.
- Audit Certification: Be a Certified Information System Auditor (C.I.S.A).
- Registration: Be Registered with the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK).
- Training: Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized Institution, and a Management Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
- Skills: Computer literacy.
- Performance: Shown merit and ability as reflected in work performance and results.
- Legal Compliance: Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
