This position is responsible for coordinating disease and pest control services and the overall animal health at the sub-county level. The Assistant Animal Health Officer III will work under the guidance of senior officers to ensure the health and welfare of livestock within the county jurisdiction, specifically handling vaccinations, data collection, and farmer training.
Responsibilities
Write weekly, monthly, and annual animal health-related reports at the sub-county level.
Undertake training on tick control activities in consultation with Dip committees.
Participate in disease research, routine stock inspection, vaccination, animal identification, collection, and collation of data and writing technical reports.
Enforce livestock movement regulations.
Participate in animal health demonstrations and agricultural shows.
Conduct animal vaccinations, animal treatments, and training of farmers on livestock breeding.
Care for and ensure the welfare of impounded animals.
Disseminate data and information on animal health, control, and welfare for animals in the pound and animals under legal action.
Collaborate with stakeholders in providing animal control and welfare services.
Requirements and Qualifications
Diploma in Animal Health, Animal Health and Production, Environmental Health, or Animal Husbandry from a recognized institution.
Registration and retention by the Kenya Veterinary Board (KVB).
Certificate in Computer application skills.
Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya (Leadership and Integrity).
