Role Overview
Scientific Research Corporation is seeking an Architect to provide a full range of critical architectural and construction quality assurance, management, and technical oversight for the Nairobi CAA project at the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, Kenya. This is a 36-month project duration role with expected follow-on work within the Department of State (DoS) program. The position is contingent upon contract award and requires performing technical inspections, monitoring quality control, and ensuring compliance with design specifications.
Responsibilities
Provide technical oversight and management of the Nairobi CAA project.
Perform technical inspections of architectural elements and monitor the contractor's quality control program.
Review project drawings, specifications, design narratives, and calculations to ensure compliance.
Ensure the contractor performs work in accordance with the design documents.
Review engineering shop drawings and determine if the contractor has complied with final design parameters.
Observe onsite construction to determine if construction elements are being installed, formed, and executed properly.
Perform quality assurance tasks, ensuring work is properly inspected and corrective actions are taken.
Review contractor submittals for compliance with contract requirements and resolve conflicts.
Monitor the construction contractor’s quality assurance and safety program.
Monitor construction progress against the project schedule and submit weekly progress reports.
Interpret discipline-specific drawings and coordinate with other disciplines to identify problems or non-compliance.
Prepare construction reports detailing progress and identifying problems; evaluate contractor remedies and formulate solutions for the Project Director.
Requirements
An architecture degree from an accredited program.
A minimum of seven years of experience on construction projects of similar scope and value to the supported project.
Note: Design office experience shall not count toward the required seven years of experience.
Overseas experience is preferred.
In-depth knowledge of International Codes.
Knowledge of Construction Safety regulations (e.g., EM 385-1-1, OSHA, etc.).
Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, and Word).
Willingness to work on-site at the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi to U.S. standards.
