The Animal Health Assistant II (Disease Control) is responsible for animal health, control, welfare, and veterinary extension services at the ward level under the guidance and supervision of a veterinary surgeon. This role is essential for maintaining livestock health and preventing disease outbreaks within the Nairobi City County.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out simple treatment of animals.
Participate in animal disease search and reporting.
Demonstrate external parasite control techniques such as dipping, spraying, and dusting.
Carry out vaccinations and undertake procedures including closed castration, dehorning, de-worming, disbudding, docking, debeaking, and hoof trimming.
Issue animal movement permits as required.
Requirements and Qualifications
Certificate lasting not less than two (2) years in any of the following disciplines: Animal Health, Animal Health and Production, from a recognized institution.
Professional registration and retention with the Kenya Veterinary Board.
Certificate in Computer application skills.
Must meet the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya regarding leadership and integrity.
