The Agricultural Officer I will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to farmers and stakeholders within Nandi County. This role involves coordinating capacity-building activities, managing agricultural projects, and promoting strategies to ensure food security through crop development and soil management. The officer will also play a key role in data collection and pest control to support policy development and agricultural productivity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinating capacity-building workshops and providing technical advice to farmers and stakeholders.
Managing agricultural projects, including planning, budgeting, and monitoring progress.
Promoting food security through crop development, soil management, and farm mechanization.
Collecting, compiling, and analyzing crop data to prepare technical and financial reports for policy development.
Monitoring and controlling crop pests, diseases, and invasive species.
Setting performance targets and providing guidance to junior agricultural staff.
Requirements for Appointment
For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:
A Bachelor’s degree in any of the following fields: Food science, Agriculture, Horticulture, Agricultural extension and Education, Agribusiness management, Agricultural Economics or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
