Accountant II (Finance and Accounts Division)

Responsibilities and Duties

• Record Management: Maintain efficient filing systems and ensure the safe-keeping of invoices, receipts, and other critical accounting records.
• Payment Processing: Prepare payment vouchers, imprests, and committal documents in accordance with established financial rules and regulations.
• Data Maintenance: Capture financial data and maintain primary records including cashbooks, ledgers, vote books, and registers.
• Statutory Compliance: Prepare and process payments to statutory bodies such as PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, and HELB.
• Banking Operations: Initiate payments via internet banking and post payments/receipt vouchers into the cash books accurately.
• Reconciliation: Receipt cash deposits, balance, and reconcile cash books on a daily basis.
• Revenue and Liquidity: Maintain the revenue collection register and extract/provide cash liquidity analysis reports.
• Claims Handling: Pay personal and merchant claims guided by cash balances in the cash books, ensuring alignment with Treasury regulations.
• Reporting: Prepare quarterly financial management reports and other management summaries as required.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance Option), Business Management (Accounting/Finance Option), Economics, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
• Proficiency in computer applications relevant to accounting and financial management.
