Role Overview
Shining Hope for Communities (SHOFCO) is a non-profit organization that combats urban poverty and gender inequity. The Tailoring Instructor for the Women Empowerment Program (SWEP) in Oyugis is responsible for facilitating tailoring skills training, supervising participants, and ensuring the successful implementation of economic empowerment activities to help women achieve financial independence.
Key Responsibilities
Program Monitoring & Mentorship: Monitor the program and maintain relationships by communicating with the women. Explore ideas for economic empowerment and utilize peer mentoring techniques.
Training & Supervision: Recruit and supervise SWEP tailors. Identify training needs and facilitate workshop sessions.
Project Management: Keep track of program activity plans and implementation schedules to ensure quality and timely achievement of outputs.
Administrative Duties: Keep beneficiary records and maintain the registry book. Provide monthly progress reports and conduct follow-ups on absenteeism and dropouts.
Assessment: Set assessment tests for trainees and conduct continuous knowledge assessments.
Curriculum Development: Update training manuals and write lesson plans and monthly planners.
Product Development: Gather customer feedback and assist the SWEP team in designing new products for merchandise.
Representation: Represent SWEP tailors during site visits, exhibitions, and trade fairs.
Maintenance & Safety: Ensure tailoring machines are regularly serviced and maintained. Ensure safety measures are adhered to at all times in the workshops.
Logistics: Request resources for activities on time and track usage. Organize monthly trainee meetings and assist in graduation ceremonies.
Requirements
Academic: Certificate in Tailoring skills training is mandatory.
Professional: Qualification in any relevant field supporting vocational training or community development.
Skills: Strong instructional abilities, technical proficiency in tailoring, equipment maintenance, and basic administrative reporting.
