Job Description
The Women Empowerment Program (SWEP) Tailoring Instructor will be responsible for providing tailoring training to women beneficiaries, managing workshop operations, and contributing to the economic empowerment objectives of Shining Hope for Communities in Meru. The role involves curriculum delivery, student assessment, and product design assistance to ensure high-quality output and meaningful impact for the program members.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor the program and maintain relationships by communicating with the women beneficiaries.
Explore ideas for the economic empowerment of members and the proper utilization of peer mentoring techniques.
Recruit and supervise SWEP tailors.
Identify SWEP tailors' training needs and facilitate workshop sessions.
Keep track of program activity plans and implementation schedules to ensure quality and timely achievement of outputs.
Keep beneficiaries' records and maintain the registry book.
Set assessment tests for the tailoring trainees and conduct continuous knowledge assessments.
Provide monthly progress reports and conduct follow-ups on absenteeism and dropouts.
Update training manuals, write lesson plans, and maintain monthly planners.
Gather customer feedback and assist the SWEP team in designing new products for SWEP Merchandise.
Represent SWEP tailors during site visits, exhibitions, and trade fairs.
Ensure machines are regularly serviced and maintained while adhering to workshop safety measures.
Ensure resources needed for activities are requested on time and track usage.
Organize monthly trainee meetings and assist in organizing graduation ceremonies.
Requirements and Qualifications
Academic Qualifications: Certificate in Tailoring skills training.
Professional Qualifications: Qualification in any relevant field.
Skills
Expertise in tailoring and garment construction.
Strong instructional and lesson planning abilities.
Ability to assess trainee progress and manage workshops effectively.
Basic sewing machine maintenance skills.
Reporting and record-keeping skills.
