The Tharaka Nithi County Public Service Board (CPSB) is a body corporate established under Section 57 of the County Governments Act, 2012 pursuant to Article 235 of the Constitution of Kenya 2010. The Board is seeking to recruit a qualified individual for the position of Weight and Measures Assistant/ Technician.
Job Purpose
The Weight and Measures Assistant/ Technician is responsible for providing technical support in the calibration, maintenance, and verification of weighing and measuring equipment to ensure fair trade and compliance with statutory standards within the county.
Responsibilities and Duties
Assist in the calibration and verification of weighing and measuring instruments used in trade.
Perform maintenance and routine checks on standard measures and laboratory equipment.
Ensure all weighing and measuring equipment in use within the county meets the required technical specifications.
Assist in inspections and enforcement activities related to weights and measures regulations.
Maintain accurate records of all equipment inspected, calibrated, and repaired.
Prepare and submit technical reports on field activities and equipment status.
Provide guidance to traders and the public on the proper use and maintenance of weighing instruments.
Requirements for Appointment
Be a Kenyan citizen.
Have a Diploma or Craft Certificate in any of the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Instrumentation and Applied Physics, or an equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
Have relevant technical experience in handling, calibration, or maintenance of weighing and measuring equipment.
Possess a Certificate in Computer Applications from a recognized institution.
Demonstrate technical competence, integrity, and the ability to work under minimal supervision.
Have good record-keeping and reporting skills.
Integrity Clearance
Successful applicants are expected to obtain clearance from the following bodies:
Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA)
Credit Reference Bureau (CRB)
Higher Education Loans Board (HELB)
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC)
Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI)
For those with higher education certificates (degrees) from outside Kenya, a letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission of University Education.
