Mount Kenya University (MKU) is a fully fledged chartered university committed to a broad-based, wholistic and inclusive system of education. The university is seeking a Visiting Lecturer in Oncology to join the Medical School. The successful candidate will deliver lectures, facilitate learning, and provide academic support to students in the field of oncology, ensuring the delivery of high-quality education in accordance with the university's standards.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver lectures and facilitate learning sessions in assigned areas of specialization, following the approved curriculum and course outlines.
Prepare and submit teaching materials, lesson plans, and learning resources in a timely manner.
Administer Continuous Assessment Tests (CATs), assignments, practical assessments, and examinations as scheduled.
Set, invigilate, and mark examinations, submitting results within stipulated timelines.
Provide academic guidance, mentorship, and support to students in their areas of study.
Utilize appropriate teaching methodologies and engagement techniques to ensure effective course delivery.
Maintain accurate student attendance, assessment records, and academic progress reports.
Stay updated on emerging trends and developments in oncology to enrich teaching and learning.
Participate in curriculum review and academic quality assurance activities as required.
Engage in scholarly activities including research, publications, conferences, and professional practice.
Comply with all University policies, academic regulations, and professional standards.
Perform any other academic duties assigned by the Dean or Head of Department.
Qualifications and Experience
Master of Medicine in a relevant area of specialization from a recognized academic institution.
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) degree.
At least three (3) years of teaching and research experience at a university level.
Relevant professional work experience in the medical industry.
Must be registered and licensed to practice by the Relevant Professional Body.
An earned PhD degree in the relevant area or registration for a PhD is considered an added advantage.
